Scientific Code of Conduct for Constructive Exchange on the D2 Platform Purpose of the Code:

1. Principles of Scientific Communication

1.1 Respect & Objectivity: Criticism must be content-based, objective, and respectful. Personal attacks, derogatory remarks, or sarcastic/ironic tones are not permitted.

1.2 Constructive, Not Destructive: comments should aim to improve a contribution—not discredit it. The goal is to collaboratively enhance scientific quality.

1.3 Transparency: Participants are expected to justify their arguments and disclose any potential conflicts of interest (e.g., co-authorship, methodological preferences). 1.4 Academic Relevance: Feedback must relate to the article’s content, methodology, or interpretation—not the individual or their institution.

2. Guidelines for Comments and Discussions

2.1 Constructive Language: ✔ Use “I believe… because…” rather than blunt statements. ✔ Make suggestions instead of judgments: “Perhaps this could be clarified…” rather than “This is wrong.”

2.2 Positive Feedback: Acknowledge what has been done well. Positive reinforcement contributes to a healthy scientific culture.

2.3 Zero Tolerance for Discrimination: Discriminatory, sexist, racist, or offensive content will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

2.4 Accurate Referencing & Fairness: If you cite other research, provide full and accurate references. Do not quote out of context.

3. Moderation & Consequences of Violations D2 is committed to upholding scientific integrity. To ensure this, the following rules apply:

3.1 Moderation: All public comments may be reviewed by the editorial team. Users can report inappropriate content at any time.

3.2 Consequences for Violations: Depending on the severity, violations of this code may result in: • A formal warning from the D2 team • Deletion of specific comments • Temporary suspension of commenting rights • Permanent account deactivation in cases of severe or repeated violations

3.3 No Right to Publication of Comments: D2 reserves the right to reject or remove comments that violate this Code, without the obligation to provide justification.

4. Commitment to Compliance All users—whether authors, reviewers, or readers—agree to adhere to this Code of Conduct when engaging in discussions on the platform. Final Note Science thrives on critical dialogue—but also on trust, fairness, and respect. D2 provides a space where such dialogue can happen at eye level. Because only together can we create better science.
